Shared Commitments
- Attend at least 75% of meetings each year
- Present to the group at least once annually
- Show up in the spirit of collaboration, learning what others do, and offering quality referrals whenever possible
Shared Principles
- Define Your Focus: Be clear about who you are and the fundraising consulting work you seek.
- Adopt a Collaborative Mindset: Approach each interaction with the question, “What can I bring to the group today regarding new business?” rather than “What can the group do for me?”
- Engage and Learn: Discover how others’ skills and expertise complement your own, fostering shared growth.
- Expand the Circle: Reflect on who else could benefit from and contribute to the IPAR community—who needs to be here?

What is the criterion for IPAR membership?
An independent consultant focused on helping nonprofits raise more money OR an independent consultant (such as a virtual assistant) who supports these types of consultants
Or, a practitioner who works to benefit nonprofits and, by nature of his or her business, frees up money for independent philanthropy advisor consulting services. Examples are a health insurance agent working with nonprofits to lower premiums or a bookkeeper or CPA working with nonprofits to find tax savings in some way.
Or, a practitioner who works with individuals/families/
professional advisors to help donors and potential donors with charitable giving decisions Or, an attorney who helps nonprofits structure themselves to accept donations, as in becoming a 501(c)3.
How do I invite someone to become an IPAR member?
Send an email to Rick and Britt stating why this person should be a member, citing one of the definitions above.
If the person is interested in joining, Ash will then send them a welcome email with the intranet link, and meeting invitations to all future meetings
Ground rules are that the person must attempt to attend 75% of the meetings per year, must agree to present to the group at least once a year—and must come to the meetings in the spirit of helping others, getting to know what they do, and helping to provide ideal referrals to them whenever possible.
