Leverett Philanthropic Advising
Overview
I am the founder of Leverett Philanthropic Advising, where I help individuals, families, and their professional advisors move money out of accounts and into the world to do good in ways that reflect their deepest values and their most immediate concerns for the world. With more than 30 years of experience across nonprofit leadership, grantmaking, and advising individual nonprofits, I bring an experienced insider’s understanding of both donors and the organizations they want to support. My approach blends clarity, warmth, and pragmatism. I help clients understand what's knowable and what isn't when looking at organization’s impact and potential.
I work with high-net-worth individuals and families who are eager to give but wary of the nonprofit sector. I partner with financial advisors, attorneys, and CPAs to ensure that clients’ philanthropic goals align with their financial and estate planning. Whether it’s creating a personal mission statement, helping disburse assets in a donor-advised fund, or acting as an intermediary with charities, I help clients feel confident in their choices. Mine is a bespoke offering. I always customize what I do as needed for a client. I particularly enjoy working with older adults.
I am a Harvard graduate and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP), an Impact Philanthropy Advisor (IPA), certified to work in multi-generational family philanthropy (21/64) and licensed as a Standards for Excellence [for the Nonprofit Sector] consultant. I speak Spanish.
My tagline—Intend. Do. Matter. — captures the essence of my work: to move people beyond having good intentions and into action that matters to them and to others. I hope they find joy and purpose in seeing their generosity make a difference. I like to say that I help people to matter more.
