Diane’s background and experience:
With over 25 years of experience, Diane and her team can address all of your fundraising needs.
Founder and President, Diane Malcolmson has over three decades of experience in fundraising, marketing, board leadership and strategic philanthropy. She is a dynamic, data-driven leader with a talent for cultivating and fostering client donor relationships.
Diane holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia Business School, with a specialization in Marketing and Management. She also holds a Masters of International Affairs (MIA) from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a BA from Regis College with high honors.
Diane started her career at Tufts University in Medford, MA, as a member of the annual fund team. She founded the Winchester Hospital Foundation in Winchester, MA, and created their first multi-million-dollar capital campaign for a new maternity ward.
As a graduate student at Columbia University’s Business School and School of International and Public Affairs, Diane assisted the Dean of the Business School in raising $100M for the school’s capital campaign. While still in the dual graduate program, she was asked to join the Columbia University’s fundraising team which raised $1B for Columbia University President’s fundraising team. Diane graduated with honors from Columbia Business School and School of International and Public Affairs.
Diane joined the Office of the President and Provost at Harvard University as the chief fundraising officer for the University president. As a member of the development leadership team, she helped to raise $1.2B for the Campaign for Harvard University. She joined Fleet Bank as an SVP of internal marketing communications and participated in the merger of Fleet Bank and Bank of Boston, one of the largest bank mergers at the time, culminating in today’s Bank of America.
Diane’s fundraising took her to The Dimock Center, an urban community health center in the heart of Boston. She was Chief Development Officer for Boston Med Flight. She became the first National Director of Development and Marketing for Year Up.org. She served as Vice President of Development and Marketing at the National Headquarters of Reach Out and Read.
Diane founded her own consulting company in 2020, Malcolmson Philanthropic Advisors, helping nonprofit organizations and their leaders to achieve financial success.
Born and raised in Boston, Diane currently lives just outside the city with her husband, two grown children, and the family sheepdog.
